Daily Reading: Exodus Chapter 35 thru Chapter 38 Key Verses: Exodus 35:5-9 These verses illustrate how God chooses to accomplish His work through the hearts of His people verses a supernatural miracle falling from the sky. God only used those who's heart was willing to give towards His work. God would rather use the little from a willing heart than the plenty from a guilty or grudging heart. Those that had a willing heart continued to give freely which shows that God continued to bless them. Moses had to ask them to stop! I wonder what that felt like? I imagine telling the congregation, "That's enough. We have all that we need to accomplish what God asked us to do." That will only happen when people have the heart of a giver. The heart of a giver is filled with joy from their willingness to serve God. Ask God for the heart of a giver and let your heart guide your hand. 2008-03-28 13:03:53 GMT

After all of God's blessings it should be easy to have a willing heart to give offerings unto him. Thank you, Lord, for your blessings. I am your willing servant. I will give of my "first fruits" and not my leftovers. In Jesus name, Amen.

We usually hear how stiff-necked Israel was, but this account lets us know in the midst of those who were stiff-necked were people who gave what they had for God's work. We already know we live in a stiff-neck society that is straying far from the values that God intended for us to live by. Although, we can still give what he has blessed us with to carry out His work, for the uplifting of our current and future generations. I pray that we give all we can to the building of God's Kingdom. In Jesus name Amen.

I think the difficulty with giving freely has to do with a spirit of poverty. A spirit of poverty looks at life from the standpoint of lack rather than abundance. The fear is that giving out of our resources will result in us having a lack of funds for our personal use. It is so difficult to have a paradigm shift or a conviction shift where we truly believe that God will provide - that we do not have to depend on ourselves, that there is enough to go around. All that we have, all of the earth belongs to the Lord - when we give to His kingdom we are truly being obedient to what God says should be done with His resources.
