Daily Reading: Acts chapter 9 thru 12

Key Verses: Acts 9:1-6

Why did Paul become totally converted and convicted when he fell off his high horse?  Paul had an encounter with the Risen Saviour.  The man he thought was dead and buried - the one whose follower's he was persecuting- he realized was truly alive.

Some Christians never go beyond belief to conviction (having convictions is being so thoroughly convinced that something is absolutely true that you take a sand for it regardless of the consequences) because they do not truly believe that Jesus is alive.  Christianity is a duty for them.  It is not a lifestyle.  You act differently when you are face to face with a person than you do when there is distance between you.  A loved one that has died is mourned and remembered for what they once were.  Do you think of Jesus in the past tense ("Jesus, I'll never forget what you've done for me")?  Or is He in your present ("Here I am to worship")?  He has not died.  He is yet risen.  You can meet your Savior face to face daily.

Paul is an example of regardless of your yesterday, God can use you today.  Lamentations 3:22-23

Pastor Baker and I had the opportunity (through the kindness of others) to attend a banquet celebrating the life and ministry of a man that is truly a servant of the Lord. The thing that struck us immediately was the banquet was filled with people representing differing cultures, races and nations but the common thread was the love of God (1 John 4:7-8). I can honestly say that I have never had an experience in the body of Christ like this. It is rare in today's church culture to find a man of God who simply serves and doesn't desire to be served. This man started his ministry by taking in homeless people, drug addicts and alcholics. When I say taking in, I mean he was inviting people to stay in his home. His ministry grew to an international ministry because he was convicted to share the love of Christ. There were representives from Israel, Vietnam, Iran and Fiji just to name a few. These people came from all over the world to testify how one man touched their lives and introduced them to Jesus. He represented the Risen Saviour in such a manner that these people were brought from the pit of destruction and their lives were forever changed. His sister testified that he had such conviction and integrity in his walk with the Lord that he would not perform her wedding because she was living in sin. Wow! Pastor Baker and I were knocked off our high horse because we realized that there is still more of ourselves to give to the Lord's work. I pray that after 25 years of ministry that others will be able to speak on our work for the Lord in such a manner that glorifies God.
