Entry for April 3, 2008
Daily reading: Luke Chapter 9 thru Chapter 12 Key Verse: Luke 10:17-20 Mike Tyson was probably the most feared boxer ever. No one had a burning desire to fight "Iron Mike" in his prime. His arrogance and his destructive behavior allowed an ordinary boxer to destroy him. He fell from the top of the boxing world like lightening. Now boxers do not want to fight him because he's a joke. When someone does defeat him there is not much to rejoice over because we all watched him fall like lightening. Satan and Mike have the same story. Both were champions in their field and became too arrogant and destructive. Both were cast down from their high position for the world to see. To focus on fighting them is useless -- they are already defeated. Make no mistake they both will beat down someone who still has fear of them. For those who know Satan has fallen like lightening, there is nothing to fear. There is no glory for us in defeating a fallen foe. Our glory is in the fact that the one who defeated him has RSVP'd for us an eternal stay in Heaven. Have no fear! To God be the glory! 2008-04-03 12:05:17 GMT

What does it look like to fight someone who is already defeated? I would imagine that there would be a lot of "big talk." I think of all of Hilliary's constant rhetoric about her experience and her ability to run against McCain. For me, it seems like a last ditch effort to convince people of something she does not completely believe. All Satan has left is "big talk."

Jesus let the disciples know in this scripture that being able to cast out the demons was nothing to rejoice over, but having their names written in heaven was the true blessing. This is yet another example of Jesus showing that being able to glorify God through the Son is the true blessing and not just being able to have a few victories over the devil. If their joy was only in being able to beat up on the demons, it would give too much glory to the demons (who we know are already defeated). Although, by having our joy in the relationship with the Father, we properly give all our glory to Him. I pray that all of us are able to rejoice in having authority from the Father through His Son, and not get too sidetracked by the beatings we give Satan and his camp. In Jesus name, Amen.

Power and dominion is mine in the mighty name of Jesus. God has given His children the authority to over come the schemes of the enemy, and I sing praises because of that. HALLELUAH! Thank You, Lord Jesus.

Lord, Your are the source of my every being. I bless Your Holy Name, because I know that in You; I can do all things. Thank You for all that You are, Heavenly Father. In Jesus precious Name I pray, Amen and Amen. --Shevon Bagot <mailto:sbagot@thewaybiblefellowship.org>

I am reminded by this passage that Satan and his demons are the ones defeated and not those of us who have accepted God through the blood of Jesus. Satan is defeated because our Father in heaven defeated him and gave us power to defeat him. Therefore, we do not have to be afraid of Satan's schemes. I also must remember that the greater celebration here is in knowing that I am a child of God and saved from death--without him, I am nothing.

Thank you for the power over the enemy, Lord, and for the humility wherewith to use it. More importantly, that you for sending your only son to die for my sins in order for me to have a relationship with you. Thank you for adding my name to the book of life. In Jesus name, Amen. --Davida

I learned about the power of God. From dealing with Satan and enemies like so. When doubt comes these are the scriptures that I reflect on. The justice and wisdom of God.

How can any one stand against the mighty son of God? Every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I thank God for the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, and prince of peace. I understand who has the power and who fight this really is (GOD the father the Son and the Holy Spirit). I’m just an ambassador for Christ making his appeal. Thank you God for Jesus and eternal life.
