Daily Reading: 1 Chronicles Chapter 1 thru Chapter 4 Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 2:3 Reading genealogies are sometimes difficult. Some of the names are difficult to pronounce, the lists of names get long, and its just not very exciting reading. While reading these names every so often there will be a snapshot of a person's life. Er was wicked in the sight of the Lord and was put to death. That's all we know about him. Thousands of years have passed and only God knows how many more will pass but that is all that Er will be remembered for. We are in the age where our lives are in public records. We are all forming personal qualities by which we will be remembered. As children of God we must ask the question, how would God summarize my life up to now? How will you be remembered? How you live today determines how you will be remembered by others and how you will be judged by God. 2008-05-12 14:47:15 GMT

When I read genealogies I see a history snapshot, which interestingly enough still plays has significance to this day. For instance we know that Abraham and God had a covenant that Abraham’s descendants would inherit Canaan’s land, which the descendants of Isaac and Ishmael are still fighting over until this day. I remember thinking, why would God allow the descendants of to be run out of their own land?

Well looking back in Genesis 9:25 Noah cursed Canaan, because his father Ham looked upon his nakedness. We see that Canaan’s children were the Jebusites, the Hivites, the Amorites, etc., all of the tribes we remember the children of Israel driving out of Canaan’s land. It was interesting to me that Noah didn’t curse Ham, but cursed his son Canaan instead. This history lesson gives a clear illustration of a generational curse. I pray that we all line our lives up with God’s will, so that our lives and the lives of our descendants will be the start of a big generational blessing to bear fruit for the world to come to the true knowledge of God. In Jesus name, Amen. Danny

I told my husband yesterday: "I hope when I'm gone you will be able to say that I was a virutuous woman, a wonderful wife and mother, and that I lived a good life. I hope to leave behind a good legacy." In our geneaology book, I hope there are good things written about me. Most importantly, I pray there's a footnote, that my name is also written in the book of life. In Jesus name, Amen.

I pray often that the Holy Spirit will reveal to me areas in my life where I fall short so that I can make the necessary corrections. Most people I know and others who I meet tell me that I have touched their lives in a good way or that they can sense that I am a child of God…..but my main concern is what God thinks of me. I want to know that I am in his perfect will in all that I do or say. I am seeking to walk out the path that God has set for me. I believe that God is telling me I could do better in all aspects of my life; therefore, I receive it and will work diligently to make Him proud and bless others while I’m still here. Prayerfully, I hope to leave a legacy that will cause other to receive and understand the passion of Christ and follow in His footsteps.

I think my summary will say that I have come a long way from where I was. I am continuing to grow in my relationship with My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I fully understand that without him there would be no summary!

The future is very important to me. I have a generational worldview so I think about my future heirs very often. I want to be a good example to them. I want to leave a legacy to my heirs of reverence for God.

When my grandmother and great aunt died, I thought back to how they lived their lives. They were both humble and had love for God. Their lives touched my life, will touch the lives of my children, and so on. I pray to God that I am a great example for my heirs and that I am remembered by them for all generations. --Tasha Wilson <mailto:twilson@thewaybiblefellowship.org> |
