Daily reading: Jeremiah Chapter 41 thru Chapter 44

Key verses: Jeremiah 44:7-8

Every day is a battle in the life of a Christian.  We must be protected with the full armor and armed with the sword of the Spirit.  We have a spiritual adversary trying to steal every blessing of God from us, kill the spirits of men, and destroy all hope of living the abundant life in Christ.  We are faced with the system of this world that is designed to keep us from being a true disciple of Christ.  We are constantly told to look out for and to fight the devil and resist the world.  There is a formidable opponent that many refuse to fight --  Ourselves!  The children of Israel were their own worst enemy.  The crises that they faced as a nation was brought on by their actions towards God.  A true disciple of Christ settles the issue of authority.  The reason we do not fight ourselves is because we are still in charge.  If our will is submitted to God's then we will subdue all attempts to exult itself on behalf of the King.  Israel struggled with letting God be God.  They chose when to listen and when not to listen.  When God is sovereign there is no choice.  We must not allow our flesh to keep us from experiencing fulfilment in Christ.  We must learn to die daily.

The more you read about the children of Israel, the more you see why they were constantly getting chastised by God. They would ask Jeremiah for instructions from God, and say they would follow whatever He instructed, then turn right around and blatantly disobey. Heaven help any child of mine who completely disregards what I tell them to do in the manner that they disregarded explicit instructions from God.

The sad part is how if we are not careful we can be in the same boat. Most people would think, “I would never offer incense to another god,” but they turn right around and give credit (the fruit of their lips) to everyone except God in their successes. I pray that we all follow God’s instructions and allow Him to be the head of our lives, and not continually provoke Him to anger like the children of Israel through disobedience. In Jesus name, Amen.

I learned very early that if I disobeyed my parents; I would be punished. Just as with God- the Jews disobeyed His commands and faced plague and famine. There is no other god except the one, who sits high and looks low. Therefore; as His child- I will worship none other but Him.

Father, I thank You for being my Heavenly Father, my healer, my sustainer, my doctor, my judge, the air that I breathe; the source of my being. I love You Lord! To Your mighty name be all glory, honor and praise. In Jesus name, Amen and Amen.

You brought it upon yourself!

To many throughout life people decide to go their way, which is a way in the different decrtion from Gods. They get comfortable in their selected position and they dishonor God.

God being the justful God doesn't approve and He reactively applies justive upon the individual(s).

God wants us to remain focus on Him. And to glorify Him with everything.

I certainly wouldn't want to provoke God. The children of Israel were pretty bold and crazy...but no different than most people today who knowingly disobey God. I pray that I bring honor to him in my obedience and by surrendering my life and will to him. In Jesus name, Amen.
