Daily Reading: 1 Chronicles 29 thru 2 Chronicles 3

Key Verses: 2 Chronicles 1:6-7

This account of Solomon asking God for wisdom is very familiar to many.  The fact that Solomon asked for wisdom rather than riches is quite astounding.  What I found amazing in reading this today was the level of sacrifice Solomon offered before the Lord.  He offered a thousand burnt offerings while seeking God.  It was night time when God showed up.  Sacrifice is a lost element of worship today.  What do you give of yourself when seeking answers form the Lord.  What is it that you will give up in order to show God how serious you are about hearing from Him?  How much time do you take sacrificing to God?  Are you willing to continue to sacrifice of your possessions and yourself until God shows up?  Solomon's prayer request was answered after much sacrifice.  Solomon put the needs of his people before his own desires and honored God in seeking direction from Him.  Thank God for showing us the kind of wisdom He will freely bestow on us.

After Solomon sacrificed 1,000 burnt offerings, God asked him what he wanted. Although, I do not know the magic number of sacrifices that is acceptable to God, I know that he honors sacrifice. I know that he will honor the sacrifices I make daily even if it's not right when or how I want it.

The problem with most people today is they're asking God for everything and not willing to sacrifice anything. Solomon's abundant sacrifice showed God that he was serious in his desire to please Him. As a result God responded to Solomon's sacrifice by granting his heart's desire. I pray that we all seek to please God by sacrificing anything holding us back from Him. Whether it be materialism, pride, ignorance, etc., I pray as it burns up, the smell of our sacrifice and us coming closer to Him be a sweet scent in His nostrils. In Jesus name, Amen.

Seek God, and keep seeking Him!

Is seeking God similar to playing "hide and go seek" as we did when we were little children? One. Two. Three....Ten! Ready or not here I come.

No, Actually it no where near it. God is here, He is everywhere at all times. He is ready. He isn't hiding from us. It's us that sometime want to hide ourselves from Him. By reaching out you'll feel Him. For Christians you'll find Him within you. His Holy Spirit is every where at all times, it even convicts non believers.

When it's time to seek God we simply have to allow Him to be apart of our lives in every aspect. Believe that He can do anything far better than us and for us.

I learned that I can't be counting the days, or the seconds with God when it comes to seeking Him. He must and shall remain the first thing that I seek.
God should be on my mind like my only desire, the love that I have for Him should make it seem as though I don't like anything else

Who knows our breakthrough maybe right around the next corner.

Today’s reading is very encouraging and a strong indication that I am heading in the right direction. I recently increased the time I spend during my first fruit of the day “time in worship” in the mornings. I also moved the time so far up until it hurts to get up...I am far from being a morning person…not even a little bit….I purposely set the time to be challenging as I understand sacrificial offerings unto God. I have also become more consistent with fasting. I am at a time in my life where I am desperate to hear from God. I desire to know God in a greater way. I’m seeking God with everything I’ve got….I need to see God bigger in my life. I pray that my sacrificial offerings are pleasing and acceptable in God’s sight. I pray that my sacrifices are a sweet smelling savor in God’s nostrils. I thank God for allow me to dwell in the secret place of the most High-God…I love you Lord!

I was amazed also at the offering that Solomon give to the Lord. I think that Solomon understood that the real King was God and he was just the King's representative like his father David. Solomon words from verse ten was: give me the wisom and knowledge to lead them properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of YOURS? Solomon knew that God is the King and He knows how his creation works best. Jesus is our greatest example of sacrifice. Because he give his life so that we may have life in him. So like Jesus I have to give my life so that people my see Christ through me. I pray that you help me Lord to make the sacrifices that YOU LORD GOD requires from me. My faith is in YOU God in Jesus Name Amen
