Daily Reading: Isaiah chapters 41 thru 44 Key Verses: Isaiah 44:17-20 How ridiculous is it for a man to go to the woods, chop down a tree (any tree vs.14), use some of the wood for a fire to warm himself and cook a meal, and use the rest to fashion himself a god. This tree can create nothing, so why worship it? This tree cannot grow without help- a seed had to be planted and it needed rain and sunshine to flourish. The man creates an image of who he thinks his god is. What does that look like? Whatever the man decides it should look like. The man goes further - he bows down, worships it, prays to it and asks for deliverance (vs. 15, 17). Can a tree deliver you? Can a tree answer prayer? What do we bow down to? What do we worship? What do we pray to? What do we believe can deliver us? Reflect on your conversations - a ten minute conversation with another individual outside of a church setting can reveal a lot about what you worship. 2006-11-16 16:06:28 GMT

I realize how superficial conversations can be sometimes. What a difference it would make if we tried to consciously mention God in every conversation we had regardless of who the individual was. That is an interesting concept.

To understand who we worship, we must understand the creator. We must look deep within ourselves and ask questions. What are my beliefs? Who do I believe in? Why do I believe? After we answer many questions of ourselves, then we will get a better understanding of where and what our priorities are. One thing is for certain and that "God is."
