Daily reading: 2 Corinthians Chapter 1 thru Chapter 4
Key Verses: 2 Corinthians 1:3-6
In such a time as this, the Saints of God cry out for comfort. Comfort does not mean that God will remove problems or pain. Comfort may come as strength, wisdom, peace, understanding, or encouragement in the midst of problems and pain. All comfort abides in God our Father. He freely gives us comfort so we can freely give the same comfort to others who suffer. There are many around us who are suffering right now. When you go out and encounter someone, ask the Holy Spirit of God to empower you to bring comfort to a weary soul. We can thank God for our affliction because it builds up our storehouse of God's comfort.
God is with us.

These verses remind me of the movie where a crisis is taking place and everyone is frantic except one person. When the calm person is asked how they can remain calm, it’s usually because they know something the others don’t. Typically they know the situation is not quite what it appears to be and they will come out of it just fine.
Paul expresses the same attitude in the face of being persecuted by the Roman government. He knew no matter what was done to him, he would be just fine because he had comfort from God through Christ. Even if they took his physical life, they could never take his eternal relationship with the Father and the Son. With that attitude he had comfort even in the midst of what appeared to be a crisis situation. I pray that we all seek comfort in Christ, especially in the midst of our crisis situations, so we can show those around us what true comfort looks like. In Jesus name, Amen.

When I think about suffering sometimes I would rather not suffer. I understand that suffering is a part of life. When you are face with a problem. Knowing that God promises to help and guarantee that we will overcome if we depend on him gives me comfort
