Daily Reading: Joshua Chapter 6 thru Chapter 9

Key Verses: Joshua 6:3-5

I love that God commanded them to march silently before they shouted.  This reminds me of the silent behind the scene work that God does on our behalf.  We must do as Israel did and walk with the confidence that God is working it out.  We may be up against our enemy but God is in controll of everything.  By the time they shouted, God's work was already done.  All Israel had to do was be obedient to what God said.  There are many times when God will require "quiet trust".  If you are facing a quiet trust moment now, I pray for your obedience.  Your silence is golden and your obedience is priceless.

I’m sure someone in Israel’s camp found these and other instructions a bit perplexing. The main problem is that we can’t see things from His point of view. This requires faith on our part that He is going to deliver, no matter how strange the approach seems.

I remember in the Karate Kid, Daniel Son got irritated with Mr. Miyagi because he thought it was a strange way to learn karate by waxing, washing, painting and sanding. Mr. Miyagi having insight knew that doing the proper movements all day would forever ingrain them into his memory. Daniel later realized he had been prepared for basic self defense.

The biggest thing to understand is that we don’t have God’s point of view, but know that all things will work together for those who love Him. Sometimes we end up in strange places to later realize how fortunate we were to be there. I pray that we all put our trust in God’s plan for our lives and know that He will deliver everything He has promised. In Jesus name, Amen.
