Daily Reading: Esther Chapter 1 thru Chapter 4

Key Verse: Esther 4: 16

We often see great tragedies bring communities, cities, and countries together.  Esther called a fast to bring a nation together on a higher level.  Some people come together because of a common goal or even due to having a common enemy.  Those show some sort of unity but it is still a physical unity.  What Esther did brought a nation together on a spiritual level.  She was about to face death and she had the assurance that her nation was not only with her in heart but they were with her in the Spirit as well.  Fasting removes our reliance on the physical to dependence on the spiritual.  How comforting it must have been to Esther to know that a nation was seeking God with her for guidance.  We are facing major challenges today with leadership in America.  Do you think we need to call a 3-day fast before the next leader is chosen?  How could the body of Christ affect the election of our next leader?

Esther shows that when the law of men fails God’s people, we need to put our flesh aside and seek His guidance on the matter. Even though it appeared that she was facing certain death according to the law of men, she and her people sought God’s grace and mercy during their time of need. I pray that we all put our flesh aside and seek God’s grace and mercy during our times of numerous uncertainties. I pray that we seek God wholeheartedly and allow His will to be done. In Jesus name, Amen.

Esther uderstood who the real king was. Her faith along with those in agreement created an opportunity for the Lord to be in their presents. When two or more are in agreement with God word. God will be in their presents.
