Daily Reading: Samuel chapters 1 thru 4 Key Verse: Samuel 1:18 Hannah was a discouraged woman who decided to go to the house of God. She prayed. She spoke with the man of God. She received encouragement. She was able to cast her cares unto the Lord and leave them at the temple. This changed her. She went from being sick and unable to eat to being filled with joy and expectation. We all face challenges. We all get discouraged. I am thankful that we can worship and pray to God who hears us. Action on our part can change our perspective. All we have to do is honestly pray (with the right motivation according to His will), believe God hears us and that He will answer our prayers. Prayer is the number one cure for depression and discouragement. Even Jesus prayed at His greatest moment of depression. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus asked for a change in His situation and although He may or may not have received the answer He wanted - He did receive an answer (Mark 14:32-42). The answer comforted Him and gave Him the strength to walk into His destiny. How will we ever know the answer or receive the comfort if we never even bother to ask the question? 2006-11-28 15:19:10 GMT

It is sometimes hard to remember to pray first. It is so much easier to react and try to solve things yourself. Well let me correct that statement. It is actually harder when you try to do it yourself because frustration builds upon frustration until you finally realize that you cannot do it yourself. It is actually simpler to go to God first because He has the ability to lessen the frustration of the situation and provide answers. I think it is just the design of the enemy to make us move first and pray later.
