Daily Reading: Proverbs 1 thru Proverbs 4

Key Verses: Proverbs 4:3-7

I have often preached and heard others preach about King David's failures as a father.  Rape, incest, and murder all happened among his children.  David's identity was a valiant warrior and leader of men.  Gentle father was not a part of his identity.  God blessed David to have another opportunity to be a gentle father.  This was after David made some very wise decisions.  David chose to care for God's people and care for his household.  David shows us that it is never too late to embrace wisdom.  He nurtured his son Solomon to be the one who asked God for wisdom above all other things.  It was the words imparted from a father who finally understood that wisdom will always lead you in the right path.  Let your identity be found in wisdom.  It is never too late to accept God's best for you and your family.  "The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever else you get, get insight."  May the words of a wise King be treasured in your heart.

David learn from God how to be a father doing the time of Solomon birth. Like most of our fathers, David's father may have not spent the quality time that sons need to grow up and say "for me and my house we will serve the Lord". I pray that we as fathers teach our children the wisdom of God so that their decision making will lead them down the right path. May God Bless the reader of his word.

If only I would have listened!!!!!! I counsel my children with the Word of God to impart Godly wisdom to prevent them from facing my gripping words of the past…”If only I had listened!” Grabbing a hold to God’s wisdom saved my life…I was on a downward spiral and realized I had to make a very crucial decision….I had to change my mind! I had to take on a total new life through the Word of God and learn to apply His principals in my life. And just as verse 7 listed: “Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” When I attained wisdom, I stop getting the same old results (I broke through the vicious cycle of foolishness). I had to give up “what I thought was a lot” but I gained it all in Christ Jesus!

Father, I thank you for your Grace and Mercy towards me, I thank you for Jesus (our sacrificial lamb) that we may have the opportunity to stand blameless before you. I thank you for developing me in your Wisdom that my children and your people will not be lead astray by my actions. I thank you for your goodness and filling my heart with your Wisdom and your Love! In Jesus’ name…..Amen

Have you ever heard of people winning the lottery or a large settlement of money, and then end up broke within a year or two? The biggest reason most people loose large sums of money when they’ve never had any money before is they lack the wisdom to know how to hold on to their money and make it grow. Many rich people will tell you that their journey on acquiring their wealth is what was most important, because after which they can acquire it again.

Solomon tells us that wisdom is supreme and that we should get give all that we have to get wisdom. The key thing to learn is that we should put our trust in the Lord and walk after Him in all our ways. A true understanding of this principle will allow God’s investment in us to grow like the portfolios of the wealthy investors and not the foolish lottery winners. I pray that we put our stock in the wisdom of the Lord and walk after Him in all His ways so His investment in us can grow exponentially. In Jesus name, Amen.
