Daily Reading: Psalms 33 thru 36

Key Verse: Psalm 34:8

I remember as a youngster being quick to decline invitations to eat certain foods because of their appearance or their smell.  There are many foods that I now enjoy that I once swore I would never even taste.  Because I was unwilling to taste certain foods in my younger years, I missed out on countless enjoyable meals.  I even missed opportunities for fellowship because of the meal that was being served.

The Psalmist invites us to, "taste and see that the Lord is good."  This is not an invitation to interview God or "check Him out", but it is an invitation to know Him personally.  Once we have taken the first step of obedience and become intimate with God by developing a relationship with Him, we begin a wonderful journey of knowing how good He is.  It all begins with a taste.  The psalmist is daring us to simply taste (take a small bite) and we will surely see that the Lord is good.
