Daily Reading: Luke chapters 5 thru 8

Key Verses: Luke 7:47

Overflowing love is the natural response to forgiveness and the appropriate consequence of faith. But only those who realize the depth of their sin can appreciate the complete forgiveness God offers them. Jesus has rescued all of his followers, whether they were once extremely wicked or conventionally good, from eternal death. Do you appreciate the wideness of God's mercy? Are you grateful for His forgiveness?

Once upon a time I measured myself against the world and not against the Word. This was a prideful act on my part because I believed that I was conditionally good and did not appropriately acknowledge my need for forgiveness. As long as I was not as bad as my neighbor, I felt like I had it all together. In my journey through the Word, I realized my prideful ways - no one is without sin except for Jesus.
