Daily Reading: 1 Corinthians Chapter 5 thru Chapter 8

Key Verses: 1 Corinthians 5:1-13

Many Christians today feel that we should never judge anyone.  Many Christians accept people's sinful nature and feel as if they can not judge them because, "We all fall."  Paul paints a very different picture for Christians.  In this particular chapter Paul addresses a church discipline issue.  We all sin but what Paul is speaking against is those who deliberately sin, feel no guilt, and refuse to repent.  This issue was so disturbing Paul said, "Even the sinners don't do this mess."  Paul goes on to explain that the church must have discipline among its members.  Unchecked sin can be devastating to other believers and can cripple the church.  God says that we are not to judge others.  God does not want us to condemn anyone or hold anyone to a standard that we would not hold ourselves to.  Paul explains that we have a responsibility to live according to and hold others (in the church) accountable to the commandments of God.  To tolerate sin in the body of Christ is sin.  Correction of sin should not be vengeful.  Correction should be in love and done to bring about a cure.

Pray for truth and love to reign in our hearts and in the church.

Paul writes to the church, describing the brutality that the apostles face for Christ; though the body of Christ practices sexual immorality and are divided. Paul tells the church they should be shamed of their actions and turn away from their sins. He tells them their bodies are from the Holy Spirit, who abides within; therefore with their bodies they should honor God. Each man to his own wife, and each woman to her own husband.

Our body is a temple, given to us by God. We are not to mis-use and abuse the very thing that does not belong to us. Instead, we should cherish our temples for its worth. What God has given- man cannot.

Thank You God for my temple, which You have granted unto me. I promise to do Your will and turn away from those immoral things that are not of You, for if I engage in those things I give satan access and he cannot have access, because I bind him out in the name of Jesus!(it is so and it is done)- Amen
