Daily Reading: Hosea Chapter 5 thru Chapter 8

Key Verse: Hosea 6:5-7

In today's reading, it is no secret that God is angry with His people.  Israel has turned away from God.  They have turned towards idols, other people and even towards their own limited knowledge.  We serve a merciful God, but we must not forget that He also is a just God.  When we go against the Word and will of God, the deed does not go unpunished.  God's justice must be met.  If you fully understand salvation through Jesus Christ, then you should understand that God saved us from the wrath that is to come upon this world.  God will judge this world and release His wrath upon those who have not taken the shelter offered by Jesus Christ.  God gives us a glimpse into what He delights in in these verses.  God delights in loyalty rather than sacrifice, and knowledge of Him rather than burnt offerings.  Religious rituals can help us understand God and nourish our relationship with Him.  However, a loving relationship is the foundation.  Without a loving relationship, rituals are empty and meaningless.  Adam is an example of someone who was disloyal to God because He did not have full knowledge of Him.  Fortunately, New Testamet saints have both God's word and His Spirit.  We have access to the Father through Christ.  God has eliminated all excuses for not knowing Him.  What kind of love did that for us?  Jesus is praying for us right now that we are loyal and receive the knowledge of His Father.

God is not only just and merciful, but He is rational and logical. It makes perfect sense that the Creator would want His creation to stay loyal to Him because only the Creator knows the exact purpose of the creation. If we seek our purpose from other sources, they can only give opinion, but God deals in fact. He is so clear in His command for us to be loyal rather than sacrificial. A sacrifice is momentary, a one-time thing. But loyalty is a lifestyle. When you grow in your knowledge of God, you realize that somethings don't require a burnt offering. His direction becomes clearer and you learn how to function as a citizen of His Kingdom.

God wants to be our everything as He is the source of everything in Heaven and on earth. Often times God is taken for granted, and we tend to put Him on the back burner. This, He definitely will not stand for. Disobedience, unfaithfulness, and of course sinning is against Gods will; yet we live in a world that makes it seem as if it's okay to engage in such acts.

I totally agree that no sin will go unpunished and it would be a beautiful thing to see the world agree on one accord with the word of God. What a great day in history that would be.

Thank You Lord for Your word that imparts absolute truth into my life! I love You Lord- Amen.

God is addressing Christians. I think that all christians know we suppose to obey God. When self gets in the way, obeying God is know longer in there thought process. The children of Israel knows God, but it was all about what the wanted there God to be and that's very selfish. We are responsible for every dicision we make. God has given us direction and his spirit. So that we will make the right dicision not the wrong. I would be angry to if i created something and it didn't work as i created it to work. Because of there choice to sin against God. He had to discipline them. I see good in this situation, because the bible says that God discipline those he LOVES! And because HE so love the world HE give is only son (JESUS CHRIST) for our sin. Thank you God for your discipline, your love, and your son in JESUS NAME AMEN.
