Entry for October 12, 2007
Daily reading: Genesis Chapter 1 thru Chapter 4 Key Verse: 2:22 Wow! What a wedding to behold. All of creation must have had teary eyes. There was the man, Adam, who God had formed and fashioned with His own hands. God breathed into his nostrils and spoke into His life. God gave him a purpose and he was walking out his purpose. It was not until the man was walking out his purpose that he realized that he needed a suitable helper. I think we have had it backwards. Men look for a helper but do not have a clue of what purpose he needs help with. At this great wedding, God walks Eve down the aisle. It is God who brings the bride to the groom. She trusts God enough to put her hands in His hand and allow Him to guide her to the one man in which God designed her for. She experiences the Spirit filled walk down the aisle. This experience is available to the woman who trusts God as Eve did. Our earthly fathers are only symbolic of the heavenly Father walking the bride down the isle. I pray for those who are married. I pray that oneness in mind, body, and spirit becomes the true picture of your marriage. I pray for all single men to seek God and their purpose in order to know what type of suitable helper he will need. I pray for all single women to trust God and place your hands in His and allow Him to lead you. He knows the groom who He fashioned you for. Your spirit filled walk awaits you, just put all of your trust in the ultimate wedding planner. How great is our God? 2007-10-12 11:44:07 GMT

It is so contradictory to the feminist mindset to believe God made woman to be man's helper. It seems like for centuries women have been fighting to step out of the shadows of man. I am woman hear me roar, as the saying goes. Unfortunately, I think the pendulum has swung too far and it is hard at times for a woman just to be a woman. The message became that a woman could do anything a man could do and she can do it better. This pressure added to women's lives some unwanted stress. It is difficult to wear a variety of hats - mom, employee, wife, friend, sister, daughter, etc. I repeat the words of that classic song "I'm not your super woman." Besides sometimes "being better than a man" makes a woman lose touch with her feminine side. In the corporate world, you have to be tough and emotionless. Sometimes you even receive labels because you have to be harsh (the B word). Don't shed a tear unless you want to hear someone say you are acting like a woman.

Of course, there is also the aspect of men who have now abandoned there responsibilities as men because women take care of them. Personally, I rather raise the child born to me rather than a grown man. But, that's just me. So, how do you balance life as a woman in 2007? --Aundrea Baker <mailto:abaker@thewaybiblefellowship.org>

In our times- dealing with dating, cheating, break-ups, etc.; it becomes a bit of a struggle to be open minded to the fact that God has ordained our life partner for us. Society, family, and friends play their part in influence as well. Though it's like Pastor said, it takes an understanding that God created each of us with purpose, and we have to trust in Him for that man or woman that He has designed for each marriage.

In 2007, it can be difficult to accept the God given role of the "woman", but I know that God makes no mistakes. I for one have accepted the perfect partner that He created for me. Amen! I'm 100% sure that marriage has its bumps and curves, but God also gave us the ability to overcome. In this way every situation or circumstance becomes a learning experience. Praise God! --Shevon Bagot <mailto:shevonbag@sbcglobal.net>

It's hard to walk in our roles as women if we have been taught since birth to be strong, confident, and not to depend on a man. This is the complete opposite of what God envisioned for women. He created woman out of man to be his helper. I have to remember that I am not the mother, sister, leader, but the wife/helper.

Whenever men line up with the word of God, women can stop singing the Destiny Child's song "All the women, independent, throw yo' hands up ..." I can remember proudly screaming the words at the top of my lungs. I am not sure how the 2007 woman can balance life today. We have so many single mothers that they have no choice but to wear the pants. Let me know if you find out. --Tasha <mailto:twilson@thewaybiblefellowship.org>

God made Adam from the dust of the ground. God made woman from the rib of Adam. God had me and my mother talking about how single people with great morals, are having a hard time finding someone else with great morals, that are living upright with GOD. But if this verse isn’t encouraging enough for that single person searching I don’t know what is. If God can make and fashion a woman out of mans’ rib. How hard could it be for GOD to bring the spouse worth marrying? God can bring you guys together, be prayerful mostly, and patience during the wait. Another principle I gather from this verse is, God can bring the solution once again, have faith, it (the issue, or situation) won’t last that long.
