Entry for December 7, 2007
Daily reading: Genesis Chapter 33 thru Chapter 36 Key Verse: Genesis 34:27 I recall living by the way of the world. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is the world's mentality. There are so many acts that are committed that seem to deserve retaliation. When we face such situations we must see them in light of eternity. Everyone will answer to God and God says that vengeance is His. When tempted to return evil for evil, leave revenge to God and spare yourself the dreadful and far reaching consequences of sin. Jesus taught that we should begin to pray for those who sin against us because we are aware of the wrath that will face if they do not repent and turn to God. It is difficult to do -- matter of fact it is impossible for us to do on our own. We need the Holy Spirit of God to truly represent the Kingdom and conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Walk worthy brothers and sisters. 2007-12-07 13:29:42 GMT

It is the revenge that is played out in the heart that is hard to sever. It may be easy for some not to take physical revenge out on someone, but they may be unconsciously playing out revenge in their hearts and minds. Personally, I hold grudges. There may be times when someone does me wrong and I just stop being around that person. In my heart, I am seeking revenge by cutting the person out of my life. I grew up with the concepts of "don't get mad get even" and "the greatest form of revenge is living well." Of course, there is unforgiveness written all over these concepts. It is so difficult to deal with that anger and bitterness that divides. God calls us to love one another. I am fully aware that God commanded it because He knew we would not be able to do it in our own strength.

Lord, create in me a clean heart so that I may worship You. --Aundrea Baker <mailto:abaker@thewaybiblefellowship.org>

When I am wronged by someone, my reaction is - I'm not going to deal with he or she anymore and I'm done. This is something that I'm praying for deliverance on as well as working on change. I've learned that sometimes it not only helps, but it makes me feel mature when I simply speak with that individual one on one(in a non-confrontational way). This lets them know how you felt, and you may or may not get feed-back; but it also prevents the issue from re-occurring or going further. God is awesome, and He will always be there for us through battles, but we have to willingly submit and allow God to be God in our lives.

Thank You Lord for a clear understanding that my battles are not mine, but Yours. In Jesus name, Amen. --Shevon Bagot <mailto:sbagot@thewaybiblefellowship.org>

At one time in my life, When I was wronged by someone, I would think of ways to get revenge and would, most of the times, carry out my plan. I was so stupid! I thank God that I now know how to pray for his peace when I feel wronged. I am sometimes tempted to seek revenge, but I have to remind myself that God will fight my battles for me.
